2019 Pilgrimage Festival!

festival [fes-tuh-vuhl] –

  1. a period or program of festive activities, cultural events, or entertainment: a music festival.

  2. gaiety; revelry; merrymaking.

All of the above are true!

I can’t believe this was my first “true” festival. Have I been living under a rock?! When we moved to Tennessee I knew that music would stay a big part of our lives. However, I wasn’t expecting the music scene we have encountered. Every age group, every type of music, every type of venue…….. and it’s all amazing! Yesterday was the first music festival I’ve attended … Ever! I’ve been to a lot of music “events” but never anything close to what I experienced yesterday. The Pilgrimage Festival in Franklin, TN did not disappoint. Only an hour from our house, and well worth the drive!

A little about the festival………..

“Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival was inspired by friendship, history, experience and the desire to create an authentic music festival. Three years ago, Musician and Franklin, TN resident Kevin Griffin was on a September morning run through The Park at Harlinsdale, a century-old horse farm recently purchased by the City of Franklin. Kevin was so taken by the rolling hills, natural amphitheaters, and breathtaking vistas of the 230-acre farm, he envisioned it as a natural fit for a music festival venue. Considering Franklin’s music and cultural history, Kevin wanted the community to further appreciate combining this with the beauty and rustic quality of Middle Tennessee in the fall, and with the blessing of the City, began to dream up a music festival to do it justice.

The festival was exactly what I expected a festival to be. The festival-dressers were there en masse. The hippie crowd was well represented with headbands, tie dye, long flowing skirts, flowers in their hair…. you get the picture. There were the people in t-shirts and shorts…. or the people in long sleeves and jeans. I have not clue how they survived the heat! I loved it!

There were so many great musicians! We originally decided to go because of Jim’s desire to see The Killers, a dream of his, but were introduced to so many new artists. My favorite was Lauren Daigle. She blew me away! And the food…. Oh My Gosh! Delicious. Some of the food we sampled included farm-to-turntable fried pickles and tomatoes. Some of the best I have ever had!

I can’t wait to go to our next festival. I am addicted. Hope you enjoy some of the photos. As you can see, we had a blast! Yet another Minigan adventure in the books!

Peace to all !
