Recent reads I highly recommend
For most of my life I have been the girl that received good grades, worked hard, went along with the crowd and didn’t stir the pot. I conformed.
The past few years I have realized that is not really who I am. Don’t get me wrong, I still want to work hard and I really don’t like confrontation but I realized that I really just wanted to be me. Trying to be someone else or trying to conform is not what makes me happiest.
I don’t want to wear a lot of makeup. That’s not me. I do want to feed the chickens in pajamas and muck boots. That IS me. I don’t want to go to fancy executive parties and wear expensive clothes. That’s not me. I do want to hang out with friends by a bonfire. That IS me. I don’t want to quietly walk through a crowd. I want to stop and talk to people and see the good in them! I want to sing and dance and put flowers in my hair and talk to my cats!
Learning to find my quirk was a great thing. I embrace who I am. I have a lot of great things that make up ME. They aren’t the things that make up anyone else though..
Everyone has to find and embrace their own inner quirk.
The photo above shows a couple books I have recently read. These books have inspired me to continue to be me. Rachel Hollis and Amy Cuddy are amazing people with amazing stories and advice to share! I would highly recommend either of these books. Another book not shown is the book Becoming by Michelle Obama. I just finished this and the two words I would use to describe her are Gentle Leader.
My message for this post is Find Your Inner Quirk! Wear your pajamas to the mailbox, drink cheap wine, sing out loud.
Peace and Love to all, Ruthie
