Dream
I love to dream. Dreaming at night. Dreams that come to me during the day. Daydreams can be so much fun. I look at them as seeing my life filled with passion and purpose. Me living my best me.
I'm never sure what causes me to take a break from my day to day thoughts and start to day dream. I'll be minding my own business, working away at something and suddenly, a thought will hit me smack in my brain! "What if I could......" "What if I was......" "I wonder what it would be like to ............". Some dreams are bold and audacious, others are just little whispers. They all make me take notice.
So many times we laugh our dreams off and think there is no way that they could become a reality. We find reasons to say no to our dreams. We let fear, doubt or practicality push them away. We tell ourselves it's too big, or too risky. But personally, if I tell myself it's just a dream, it's a way for me to let go and get crazy. I can let myself think about how it would feel to accomplish something without the doubt that normally creeps into my mind. I'm just playing, right? And sometimes that playing allows me to believe it really could happen.
Saying yes to a dream allows your mind to get creative. That specific dream came to you for a reason. The dream believes you are the person to make it a reality. If you choose to say yes to the dream, it doesn’t mean you won’t encounter obstacles. It means you are willing to try despite them. It means you trust that your vision is worth the effort.
The fear that holds us back can be strong. Failure, judgment, and uncertainty are all things society has taught us to avoid. Many of us believe we have to play it safe, follow a predictable path, and avoid risks I know I have for most of my life. But every great achievement in history started with someone who refused to say no to their dream.
Some of the things I have learned that help me move forward with a dream are below.
Acknowledge Your Dream – The first step is to recognize what you truly want. Give yourself permission to dream without limitations.
Silence the Inner Critic – Your fears and doubts will try to convince you that you can’t do it. Replace negative self-talk with affirmations and self-belief. You can do this!
Small Steps – Dreams can feel overwhelming, but breaking them down into small, actionable steps makes them feel less overwhelming. (How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.)
Surround Yourself with Support – Find people who encourage and inspire you. Mentors, coaches, or like-minded dreamers can provide you with guidance and motivation.
Remember: Failure is a Lesson – You are going to make mistakes! Expect it. Every setback is means you learned something. Instead of seeing failure as an end, view it as part of the journey.
Stay Committed – Dreams require perseverance. Stay focused, adapt when necessary, and keep pushing forward.
No dream is too big or too small if it holds meaning for you. Remember, the dream came to you instead of someone else for a reason. The world is full of possibilities, and the only way to know what you’re truly capable of is to try. Never say no to a dream—say yes, take the first step, and watch how your courage transforms your life.
Peace and Love to All!
