The changes keep coming……

It’s been two months since I posted a blog. At first I thought that each day was kind of a repeat of the day before. The weekdays were spent working, then evenings were spent taking a walk and eating dinner. Weekends we have Saturday happy hours at the corner of our yard with a couple neighbors (we all meet at the corner of our yards and talk).

The suddenly, two months have gone by and I have so much to say.

COVID-19 update for Tennessee – I think we are at about 23,500 cases with about 500 deaths. Things are opening up a bit but the cases continue to rise. People are starting to ditch their masks. I have mixed feelings on this. I do believe it’s ok to be in a room with someone without a mask as long as you trust that person with take precautions. Socially distance, sneeze or cough into a tissue, etc. The problem is, I see people at the grocery store that are constantly reaching in front of people or coughing while they are checking out the pears. I am still faithfully wearing my mask in public. I know that wearing a mask is to protect others but I pray that it may increase my chances of being safe if someone’s germs happen to come flying my way. Moving on.

Protesting – I am so glad people are making a stand! It’s about time. I’ve been educating myself more on the matter because I want to be part of the solution. The protests in Nashville have mostly been peaceful but yet everything I have seen makes me believe people are listening! I pray!

Personally, I have had a lot of internal reflection going on. I’m writing a book and have been dabbling in Instagram videos. More to come on that…..

Then there is the really good stuff that comes in small packages….

We have done some hiking, taken lots of walks and met more of our neighbors. We have watched our neighborhood continue to grow with more houses going up every day. It’s always fun to watch new streets go in and then watch the house go from the ground up.

New side of our neighborhood

Jim’s sister came to visit for a few days. She and I got to spend some good girl time together (including pedicures) and Jim got to spend quality time with his sister. Jim even got to get his hair cut by her while we were all on a Zoom Happy Hour.

We got a really good trip to Florida in to see my brother and sister-in-law, nephew, niece and great-niece. David (my son) went also. What a great road trip (although being in a car with Jim and David joking around for 7 hours was a bit exhausting!). We spent 4 days together and had really good quality family time together.

Family fun! Digging up potatoes, working on a new grill and just chillin!

Over Memorial Day we went to St. Louis to see Jim’s mom. We stayed with friends that were easy to socially distance with (we spent most of our time out at the pool). We were able to get family together at Jim’s mom and had a wonderful brunch in her front yard under a beautiful shade tree.

And then there are the small things that most people don’t take the time to be grateful for.

  1. seeing the bees eating the nectar from flowers

  2. baby bunnies that are too young to be afraid as we walk past them

  3. neighborhood sunsets

  4. homegrown herbs

  5. thank you not from David

  6. spending time with our cats

I’ve also been listening to MANY podcasts. Oprah Winfrey, Gabby Bernstein, Lewis Howes, Ed Mylett, Jenna Kutcher…… the list goes on.

My journey has become to make sure each day I try to be a better person than I was the day before and try to spread happiness each and every day.

Hope you enjoy some of th ephotos.

Love to all!
