Weekly Wandering.... March 7

Throughout each week I feel like I learn so much. I listen to a lot of podcasts, I interact with a lot of people and I read a lot. So I thought it would be fun to share things I have learned or opinions I have agreed with or just silly things I heard. This past week was a mixed batch of interesting things so I hope you enjoy...

1) I was listening to a book written and narrated by Gabby Bernstein. She is one of my favorite authors and I have learned so much from her spirituality. I'm sure I've heard her say this before but it didn't really hit me until this week. I am paraphrasing, but what I got out of her reading was, "I can be happy with others, but I am not dependent upon others for my own happiness". Pretty powerful for those of us who have been co-dependent on others throughout our lives.

2)I love Tennessee. Oh wait. I may have mentioned that already. This week I had to do a day trip to Chattanooga for work. It was a two hour drive and absolutely beautiful. I left Mt. Juliet at 6:30 am and had the most relaxing, picturesque drive ever. I listened to podcasts, music and turned everything off and watched the scenery. I was in Chattanooga for a little over two hours and turned around and came back to Nashville. The people I met with continue to convince me that people in the Southeast are among the most friendly people I have met. Conducting business in Tennessee is so different than conducting business in the Midwest. I absolutely love it. I have started picking up terms that I never thought I would say. When people ask me a question, instead of saying "yes" or "no", I now say "Yes, Ma'am" or "No, Sir". Crazy stuff.

3) The intent of my book "I Never Quit Trying" was to help at least one person who is dealing with breast cancer. Guess what? I've already surpassed that. It seems that breast cancer is everywhere and I can't seem to get away from it. I've learned that I really do mean what I said..... I want to help people. One of my best friends from grade school was recently diagnosed, one of my co-worker's wife was just diagnosed, one of my former colleagues from St. Louis just went through a double mastectomy. It is flipping everywhere! I hope my book is helping many, many more!

4) Spring is coming to Nashville and boy am I ready! I had to do research to find out what I could plant in March. In St. Louis I had to wait until after Mother's Day but that is not the case in Tennessee. What I found was there are quite a few things I could plant in March. I bought pansies. dianthus and violas. Color in the yard is so important to me! And of course today I bought a shamrock plant. It will be coming inside at night for a while still but I saw it and I had to buy it!

5) Although our house is smaller that our 3,000 sf house in St. Louis or even our 2,000 sf house in Union, we are so much happier with our space. Being in a new house with no "projects" that have to be done is great. We bought the house as an investment to make sure when we retire, we don't lose money. We also didn't want a lot of projects. Even though we have done quite a few projects around the house, they weren't required. Our patio is a great addition but not a requirement. Screening in the patio is wonderful, but it wasn't a necessity. Living in 1,900 sf is different. Finding our own space is difficult but Jim and I are best friends so we manage.

I think that's it for this week. Every week is a new adventure. Something to learn, something to share. Love, light and peace to all!
